Data Required
USGS 7.5 Minute Quad
USGS 7.5 minute DRG (Digital Raster Graphic)?
Both must be for the same area.
Creating the shaded DRG in 3DEM
Open the DEM.
F5 (Apply map overlay)? and choose the DRG geotiff
When loaded click on Accept.
F7 Resize overhead view
Choose the maximum resolution.
File -> Save Map as a bmp file.
Creating the height map in MicroDEM
Open MicroDEM
File -> Open DEM
On the Map window Left click and choose Display Parameter -> Elevation
On the Map window Left click and choose Elevation Colors -> Colors
Choose GrayScale
Click on the Magnifying Glass with 1 in the center.
File -> Save Map Image
Choose bmp file and save the file.
Creating the mate to the original shaded file in Photoshop
Open the height map image and the shaded DRG.
Save the height map as a PhotoShop PSD file.
Click on the Shaded DRG file
Filter -> Distort -> Displace
Set Vertical Scale to 0
Set Horizontal Scale to between 5 and 30
Select Stretch to Fit and Repeat Edge Pixels and click OK.
Select the Height Map in PSD format.
Save the resulting image as a BMP with Right and the Horizontal Scale in the name.
To Make an Anaglyph from the two images using PokeScope Pro
Open Pokescope Pro
File->Open Pair Options
Select Two Files and Click OK
Open the Original shaded DRG in the left image
Open the image created in Photoshop in the right image
Choose Color->Saturation
Reduce the Red Saturation to -98
Reduce the Cyan Saturation to -98
Click on On and OK
File -> Save Image and save the file as a bmp |
