MINERAL EXPLORATION

Remote sensing technology can play a significant role in mineral exploration. Satellite imagery is used to isolate potential ore-bearing provinces based on the remote sensing models of known metallogenic provinces. The use of remote sensing technology can reduce the cost of exploration by focusing more detailed ground-based studies on areas that show more promise. Using remote sensing technology, explorationists can cover large amounts of land surface and choose the areas that require further detailed studies.
